2026 Web Site Overhaul

Well... I really screwed that up, didn’t I? You may have noticed the Mama Peggy web site is currently in shambles. That’s my bad. We've hosted the web site on Amazon's Lightsail service as a WordPress site for many years. In that time, Amazon has consistently charged us more and more, to a point where it just doesn’t make any sense to keep doing it that way.

I decided to move the web site away from WordPress and host a “static” web site. That means it wouldn’t use WordPress or some other database-driver back-end. This makes sense. I have decades of experience with HTML coding, and a fancy associate degree in computer programming to boot. I carefully checked to make sure I could upgrade individual pages while maintaining the original structure and functionality of the web site. It all worked great when I tested it. No problems whatsoever. So I figured I could take my time and upgrade the older pages at my leisure, and we could get away from the expensive Amazon hosted WordPress funtionality while keeping the old pages intact.

As you may have noticed, when I went live with the new changes, it didn’t go well.

I briefly thought about switching back. But I’m a special kind of stubborn. And my wife and I are tired of being robbed by Amazon. So for now I’m going to leave the site as it is (which I admit is largely broken) and hope to get the hand-coded pages up and running soon. I might even bring in the help of some Python programming to speed things along.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I know it’s frustrating for long-time users of the web site. But I promise you the end result will be a far faster and more robust web site. Bear with us, please. And thank you so much for your patience and understanding. We have great plans for the remainer of 2026, including a series of recipe videos and finally publishing the expanded second edition of Mama Peggy’s cookbook. We’ll get there.
