This party mix recipe has been floating around for generations, and has long been a staple of our family’s holiday celebrations. The original recipe was first published on Chex cereal boxes in 1953, and was originally intended as a holiday party snack (mission accomplished!). It’ss sometimes called “Nuts and Bolts”.

Ingredients

  • ▢ — 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • ▢ — 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • ▢ — 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • ▢ — 1 cup mixed nuts
  • ▢ — 1 cup bite-size pretzels
  • ▢ — 1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips
  • ▢ — 6 tbsp butter
  • ▢ — 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ▢ — 1 ½ tsp seasoned salt
  • ▢ — ¾ tsp garlic powder
  • ▢ — ½ tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • ▢ — Heat oven to 250°F.
  • ▢ — Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven.
  • ▢ — Stir in seasonings.
  • ▢ — Gradually stir in all remaining ingredients until evenly coated.
  • ▢ — Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • ▢ — Spread onto paper towels to cool.
  • ▢ — Store in container with tight-fitting lid.
