Mama Peggy, and thousands of other Southern cooks, made buttermilk ranch dressing way before it was cool. Fresh made dressing will beat out store-bought bottled dressing every time.

Course Salad Dressing

Ingredients

2 packs Hidden Valley Original Ranch dressing mix 1 oz
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups Duke's mayonnaise

Instructions

In a bowl, combine milk, mayonnaise and contents of mix packets.
Mix well.
Cover and refrigerate.
Chill 30 minutes to thicken.
Stir before serving.
Will yield enough to fill a 24 oz salad dressing bottle.

Notes

The secret to making your Ranch dressing taste like Mama Peggy's is to use Duke's mayonnaise, and substitute buttermilk for the milk that the mix packets call for. Other than that, just follow the directions on the Hidden Valley Ranch packets. As Mama Peggy often said, "Lord, it's the simplest thing in the world!"
