This is the web site of Peggy Joyce Chaney, daughter of Rev. Robert Lattie and Winnie Moss Chaney. Peggy was born in 1933 and has lived her entire life in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, where she is best known as the former cook for Peggy’s Restaurant (which was in business for over 25 years, owned and operated by her sister, Loretta Chaney). She is one of eleven children, known to some of Kings Mountain’s older resident as one of “those Chaney girls”. She is a member of Eastside Baptist Church, which was first pastored by her father. She is also a former member of Second Baptist Church, which her father founded. Peggy currently lives in a senior community in Kings Mountain, NC, in an apartment beside her sister, Sherry Chaney Short (who was also a fixture at “the cafe”). She is hoping to publish a cookbook of her favorite recipes, as well as many sought after recipes from Peggy’s Restaurant, in the near future. She loves to hear from visitors to this web site, and hopes you’ll drop her a line from time to time.
